Sci Fi – A Passion?
by admin on Aug.04, 2009, under General SciFi Information
I have always wanted to examine science fiction in more detail than my time has ever permitted and now I have created this space to do so. I have enjoyed reading and collecting science fiction and fantasy novels for most of my 50+ years and I have tried to encourage my offspring to have a similar passion. I have had some success though it seems more in the fantasy genre than in core material. I think there are reasons for this and I will comment about that in a later post.
My heart leapt quite a bit when my son worked his way through “Ender’s Game” and he really seemed to enjoy it before he submerged again into Harry Potter, DragonLance and his NintendoDS. My daughter and the rest of the family have enjoyed “Stargate” so I suppose I should be happy at that.
Anyhow where does one start in this awesome task I have set myself – a library I suppose. Here I sit surrounded by so much material that I don’t know where to look first. ‘A’ always seems a good place and of course Isaac Asimov looms large. He will do for a start. (How condescending to the great man!)
Most of the factual content will be appearing in as associated Wiki Dajuroka.com and I will try to commentary here (spam permiting) for anyone interested in leaving me notes and entering into more detailed dicussions. I hope you enjoy what I do but bear with me as time is so scarce these days that I doubt I will make a rapid dent in the work to be done.
Where To Start? – at ‘A’ silly!

Well its time to get started. The first question is I suppose who is a Sci Fi legend and what makes them one? There are a number of factors that could be considered.
I am sure there are other factors and over time I hope to explore those elements. However for now I will start with the more obvious legends and work up as the selections become more difficult or possibly controversial.
Mind you anyone who actually achieves a published work and has an established reader base is in my mind a legend!
Robert Jordan has gone! Unfinished business!
by admin on Aug.04, 2009, under Authors
Robert Jordan is dead and I will never finish the “Wheel of Time”. Oh Robert could you not have finished it for us all! What a loss. Robert passed away on September 16th aged 59.
He had fought hard against the heart condition cardiac amyloidosis.
He name was really James Oliver Rigney, Jr. and he also wrote under the name Reagan O’Neal. O’Neal wrote the “Fallon” series of stories.
Another legend!
“Oh author of the inner mind we salute you and envy the tales heaven will be privileged to hear!” – Vale Robert Jordan.
